danebrewer10 6
Hi all, I thought I might pose this fun question, I am a largely "traditional" shooter, I like wood and blue, but nothing beats stainless and synthetic for dependability and durability. However, I see everywhere, the worrying trend that everything is becoming "tactical", or "tacti-cool" http://www.mycity-military.com/imgs/65870_88675974_tacticoolAR15.jpg http://www.militaryimages.net/photopost/data/642/TactiCool.JPGas someone on youtube put it, it seem that this phenomenon is bigger in the states, where it seems your social standing is measured by how many picatinny rails and accessories you have on your AR, possibly also in this country to a certain extent, more so in the airgun world. It seems to be taking over everywhere, with ballistic turrets finding their way on to hunting scopes and heavy barrels on sporting rifles...... do we really need it? I see the accuracy benefits and enthusiasm people have for this "genre" of shooting, but we are, after all, sportsmen, and not in a war? Cheers DB P.S.- this is meant to be a fun post, please don't take it too seriously! Quote Link to post
firepower 68
Nope definitely not. All of my rifles have a moderator, scope, sling and bi-pod. The idea of hanging bits and bobs all over them is ridiculous. It always seems to me that the "tacticool" lot have too much money to waste on toys to impress others. Me, I want a tool for a job..... bicykillgaz 1
i think some mods are ok just as long as you don't go OTT, my cz-452 varmint is basic it gun, sako mod, harris bi-pod, sling and scope. my baikal hushpower I've made more practi-cool than tacti-cool I've got mod cover to protect the mod, rifle stock cover to hold some shells for quicker re-load, sling so i can have my hands free and a small lamp/torch with pressure switch as i shoot on my own and it makes it easier for lamping i think these are all sensible and subtle mods Quote Link to post
Alexisrouzee 6
i must admit, and probably gona get some stick for this (error of my ways.. .) i went down the tacticool route when i first got my gunpower storm..... http://www.youtube.com/user/lexreal82 ha ha i loved it all future looking and that and it worked great in my 50m garden with targets but....... when i took it to the field i saw the errors of my ways, it was too heavy so the following weekend all of it came off, stripped back to basic's and much the better for it!! i now have a nice light gun thats powerful and doesnt give me arm ache when i take it out anyway i have learnt my lesson and am in the process of getting a BSA r10 Quote Link to post
